Sharing the Magic of Live Music with Young Audiences

Chamber Music Charleston (CMC) is pleased to announce the launch of the Classical Kids Concert Series at Sottile Theatre. Beginning in September 2022, CMC will present three performances of classical music combined with storytelling and stunning visual imagery tailored specifically for young audiences (recommended for ages 10 and under). Each 45-minute program includes an educational introduction to the musicians and their instruments, songs with audience participation, and beloved stories set to music.

Looking for a unique Birthday Party idea?

We are happy to provide you with special group pricing if you would like to create your own Birthday event for your special person.  Rates of $10 per adult, $5 per child 4-16 (and still FREE for child 3 and under) are available for groups of 10 or more.

And as a special bonus, we will lead the singing of “Happy Birthday” to the Birthday boy or girl from the stage, with a special arrangement made by Chamber Music Charleston!

The 2023-24 Classical Kids Concert Series opens with Dancing Hands: How Teresa Carreño Played the Piano for President Lincoln.  In soaring words, stunning illustrations, and beautiful music, Margarita Engle and Rafael López tell the story of Teresa Carreño, a child prodigy who played piano for Abraham Lincoln.

THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS

Celebrate the most magical holiday season with a special Christmas Classical Kids Concert! Favorite holiday songs fill the air and well-loved stories come to life with classical music. Musicians perform a variety of holiday music as actors retell classic Christmas tales.
